FRANKLIN — Members of Franklin Community High School's show choir have been disciplined following an incident that occurred last weekend before a performance in Pendleton.
Franklin Community Schools community and public relations specialist Robin Betts said in a statement the incident was "swiftly and thoroughly investigated" after high school administration was notified.
The school disciplined members of the Heritage Singers and the choir will not participate this weekend at the Franklin ShowFest and at its scheduled performance Feb. 8 at Edgewood High School.
The show choir members told school administration their intent was to get each other hyped up for the competition, Betts said.
"The administration felt that these actions crossed the line between pre-performance motivation and the potential to cause injury and does not represent the values of our community," Betts said.
Betts did not specify the nature of the incident.
Betts said Franklin Community High School principal Steve Ahaus met with the students and talked with them about acceptable ways to get motivated for performances.
