GRANT COUNTY, Ind. -- A man died Friday evening in Grant County after a single vehicle crash on Interstate 69.
Indiana State Police and emergency responders were called just before 7:30 p.m. Friday to the 262-mile marker on I-69 on the report of a single-vehicle crash.
Police said Aaron Bates, 59, of Indianapolis, died at the scene after he reportedly went into the left lane, overcorrected and crashed into an embankment and trees.
A passenger, Henry Tillberry, 35, of Indianapolis, was ejected from the vehicle. Tillberry was taken to a hospital by a medical helicopter with life-threatening injuries.
State police said neither of the truck's occupants were wearing seatbelts.
