INDIANAPOLIS — A teenager is in custody after a gun was discovered in the car of a Pike High School student.
According to a spokesperson for the Pike Township school system, school police found the gun locked inside a vehicle on the Pike campus Tuesday. At the time, police were conducting a search related to suspected marijuana use.
Spokesperson Sarah Dorsey said the gun was legally owned by the student. According to the Pike Student Handbook, possession of a gun on school property is grounds for suspension or expulsion.
Parents of Pike students were advised of the incident during the school day.
