CARMEL — The Monon Trail is popular with walkers, joggers, bicyclists and skaters.
One thing you cannot do on the Monon is drive a vehicle on it.
Yet, that's exactly what's happened recently in Carmel.
Ben Matthews was riding to work early in the morning when he spotted a car driving on the Monon.
"It was surprising, not necessarily scary and as I went by, I was like, what the heck are you doing," said Matthews.
Nearby, at the Monon Community Center, a woman took pictures of another vehicle driving on the trail.
The city says it's not possible to get a vehicle onto the Monon most of the time.
But in the winter, barriers are often removed so crews can plow snow.
The barriers are supposed to be replaced with yellow cones, but one video shows no cones were out.
When RTV6 alerted the city about that, cones were quickly placed at the 111th Street entrance to the trail.
