PENDLETON — After 13-years as police chief in the Madison County Town of Pendleton, Marc Farrer is out, and it's all because of some Facebook postings.
The Pendleton Town Council called a special meeting Thursday to discuss the controversy surrounding the chief, then voted 3-2 to terminate him.
Facebook postings by Farrer were considered by some to be anti-Islam, anti-transgender and anti-Native American.
Pendleton Councilman Chet Babb was one of two council members who voted against Farrer's firing.
He says the town hall meeting room was filled with people who support the chief.
For now, Ferrer is on paid administrative leave pending an appeal hearing in February before the Pendleton Public Safety Board -- a board made up of the same five people on the town council.
