FISHERS, Ind. – A Fishers man made it his mission to raise money for mental health awareness programs – and he did so from the top of the Appalachian Mountains.
Derrick Walsh, who said he knows what depression feels like, challenged himself to complete The Appalachian Trail, which stretches more than 2,100 miles across 14 states on the east coast.
During his journey, he accomplished his goal and raised $2,800 for the Peyton Riekhof Foundation as they increase awareness of the risk of suicide among youth.
