FISHERS, Ind. -- The former chief of the Fishers Police Department pleaded guilty to drunken driving Tuesday, and has been sentenced to probation.
Mitch Thompson was arrested in July after a crash on Keystone Avenue in Indianapolis. The police report said he rear-ended a vehicle, causing it to strike another vehicle.
Thompson was eventually charged with OWI endangering a person and operating a vehicle with an ACE of .08.
On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to OWI endangering a person. The second charge was dismissed.
He received the following sentence:
- 90-day license suspension retroactive to Aug. 1
- 363 days probation, with no alcohol as a condition of the probation
- Random alcohol and drug testing
- Must complete a victim impact panel
Thompson's attorney, John Kautzman, said the probation could end early if he completes all other terms and conditions.
Thompson must also pay $485.50 in court costs.
