FISHERS — In Fishers, they still remember Harlej, the Fishers Police Department K-9 killed in the line-of-duty last November while chasing a suspect.

Now, steps have been taken to make sure all four of the current dogs with the police department have a better chance of survival if shot.
They were outfitted with custom-fitted bullet proof vests this week—special vests for dogs made by the K9 Storm company and costing upwards of $6,000 each.
According to Fishers PD, the money for these vest were made possible because of the donations made by Fishers residents, including the Saxony neighborhood—the area where Harlej was shot.
