SHERIDAN — Two girls reported missing last weekend from Sheridan have been safely located in Alabama, according to police.

Savannah Mills and Racheal Mills were believed to have left Indiana with a non-custodial parent, Sheridan Police Department Officer Lydia Fairchok said in an email. They were safely located Friday evening by the Montgomery, Alabama Police Department.

Police are working to return the girls to their legal guardians.

"On behalf of the Sheridan Police Department, I would like to thank the many assisting agencies without whom this investigation would have been impossible," Fairchok said in an email Saturday. "Although there are too many to list individually throughout the states of Indiana, Colorado, Missouri, and Alabama, I would especially like to thank Indiana State Police, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Montgomery Police Department, the U.S. Marshals, FBI, and countless county and municipal agencies that contributed invaluable information and assistance."

The case is still under investigation.
