FISHERS, Ind. -- Sometimes all you need is a reminder that a little dose of humanity can profoundly improve someone's day.

In this case, a child has proved to be the best teacher.

Members of the Fishers Fire Department were at a grocery store this week getting supplies for the fire house.

When they got back to their fire truck, they found a note on the window.

A seventh grader named Tyler wrote a simple, yet meaningful message, "Thank you for all that you have done for this community."

Fishers Fire Department Captain John Mehling says the note made the firefighters' day.

He says the Fishers community always offers their support. But Mehling also says there is something a little more special when kids like Tyler reach out on their own.
