NOBLESVILLE -- The Indiana Transportation Museum is no longer in Noblesville after it was evicted from the property Thursday night.

A Hamilton County judge ordered the museum to vacate the property by midnight Thursday.

The museum, known for the iconic State Fair Train and Polar Bear Express has been the center of multiple Call 6 Investigation over the past two-and-a-half years.

Late last year, the City of Noblesville terminated the museum’s lease on the property in Forest Park after state inspectors found hazardous chemicals leaking and incorrectly stored on the property.

The museum was supposed to vacate the property on March 1, 2018. The city extended the deadline to June 1, but the museum filed a preliminary injunction in the Hamilton County courts.

A judge ruled on the case, saying the museum would be evicted on July 12 at 11:59 p.m. and had to remove all their property by that time.

According to the judge, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office will take possession of any remaining property at midnight.

The museum had nearly 100 pieces of railcars, locomotives and other historic rail equipment on the site. Over the past few weeks, they’ve been using semi trucks to remove the equipment.

Late Thursday night, a number of semi trucks and volunteers were working to truck more cars out of the museum.

It’s unclear what the museum is doing with the equipment. Calls to the Indiana Transportation Museum by our Call 6 Team were not returned.
