INDIANAPOLIS -- Students at Tindley Summit Academy paid tribute to the victims of school shootings in Noblesville and across the United States through song.
"With Noblesville, it really hit close to home for our school and our city in particular," Principal David McGuire said. "So now our students are really saying, 'When is something gonna give?'"
Students at Tindley Summit Academy put up picturs and handed out cards featuring stories of victims who were killed in schools this year.
According to the gun violence archive, the shooting in Noblesville was the 28th shooting in a primary or secondary school in the United States this year. Forty people have been killed, after 25 were killed in school shootings in 2017.
"They really just wanna know is this ever going to stop," McGuire said. "Are we gonna continue to have shooting after shooting and can it happen here?"
That conversation is happening at home as well.
Michelle and Michael Washington have a son who is a singer in Tindley Summit Academy's show.
"We've had some conversations about being safe," Michelle said. "The fact is that we respect the school for making an attempt to address the type of thing that's going on."
Educators with the Tindley Summit Academy hope the reverence and caring will spread across the city.
