FORTVILLE, Ind. – A non-profit gifted the Fortville Police Department a new AED, that can be used in case of any cardiac-related emergencies.
Linda Goff of an organization called Brian’s Heart, presented the AED to officer Rich Lind, who will keep the device in his patrol car.
Brian’s Heart was started after Fortville resident Brian Goff suffered a fatal heart attack while playing softball.
Goff’s family believes if an AED were available, he may have survived.
Now, Brian’s Heart donates AEDs to organizations across central Indiana.
“Brian’s Heart is a great organization that seeks to assist public safety with lifesaving equipment. The Fortville Police Department is very grateful to Linda for assisting our department and community we serve,” said Fortville Police Chief William Knauer. “I hope the equipment will never have to be used, however, it should be comforting to know that we have this equipment available and can arrive quickly if needed.”
The Fortville Police Department is now equipped with an AED in every patrol vehicle.
