GREENFIELD, Ind. -- A Greenfield police officer was briefly hospitalized early Wednesday morning after he was intentionally exposed to meth by a suspect he was arresting, according to authorities.
Corporal Justin Jackson stopped Brittney Ford, 28, of Indianapolis in the 1600 block of N. State Street to arrest her for a traffic offense.
During his investigation, Cpl. Jackson says he found an unknown powder and when he asked Ford about it, she blew it in his face.
The powder later field-tested positive for presence of meth, police say.
Jackson was treated for exposure to meth at Hancock Regional Hospital and later released.
Ford faces preliminary felony charges of dealing in meth, possession of meth, maintaining a common nuisance, battery of a public safety official, obstruction of justice, unlawful possession of a syringe and several misdemeanors.
Her mother, Angela Ford, 46, of Indianapolis, was in the vehicle with Brittney.
Police say she had an active arrest warrant from Marion County.
She faces additional preliminary charges from Wednesday's traffic stop of possession of meth, false identity statement and possession of paraphernalia.
