HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. -- The Indiana Gaming Commission is serving warrants in Hendricks and Montgomery counties for an alleged cockfighting operation.

Warrants at two locations have been served -- one in Waveland and one in Avon. More than 600 birds were found at the Waveland location, and another 150 were found at the Avon house.

No arrests have been made yet, but the owners of each property are considered suspects, a spokesperson with the Indiana Gaming Commission said.

The Indiana State Police, ASPCA, and local law enforcement are assisting.

During cockfights, birds often have knives and long, dagger-like attachments connected to them to maximize injuries, commonly including punctured lungs and broken bones, according to the ASPCA.
