HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. -- A death investigation is underway after an inmate died while in custody at the Hendricks County Jail on Tuesday.
Hendricks County Sheriff's Department PIO Amanda Goings issued a statement Wednesday evening saying Bryan T. Casey, 40, of Brownsburg, was arrested by the Airport Police Department on a warrant out of Hendricks County for failure to return to lawful detention.
Casey was then transferred to and booked into the Hendricks County Jail around 2:55 p.m.
Goings says Casey's behavior was normal and he did not show any signs of distress during his evening meal or while having conversations with other inmates that evening.
A correctional officer found Casey unresponsive in his holding cell around 11 p.m. during a routine count and immediately called for help.
Casey was pronounced dead at the jail. His death is being investigated by the Hendricks County Coroner's Office and Hendricks County Sheriff's Office.
