PLAINFIELD, Ind. -- More than 150 people who work for a Plainfield business will be losing their jobs over the next couple of months.
Q-Edge Corporation and Foxconn notified the state that they would be cutting approximately 155 jobs by the end of February.
The company cites a change in business and production objectives as the reason the job reduction, however, they still plan to remain open in Plainfield.
Q-Edge's parent company is headquartered in Taiwan and is one of the world's largest producers of electronic materials.
Layoffs at the company's Plainfield location are expected to begin "shortly" and extend over the next three months in at least two different phases.
The positions affected by the layoffs include manufacturing and assembly employees as well as related office personnel.
Foxconn Technology Group released the following statement on the layoffs.
We can confirm that an Indiana-based subsidiary of our firm that carries out assembly operations for a number of customers is carrying out a restructuring of its operations due to changing product requirements from customers. As a matter of company policy, we do not comment on our customers or their products, but we can say that this difficult process is being carried out in full compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This action has no impact on any other Foxconn-related company. The facility will continue to operate with reduced staff levels.
