HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. -- On a clear, cool (cold), morning a group of Hendricks County residents took a walk for the birds. Really!
About twenty of us went on a two-hour mission to bird watch in Avon Town Hall Park. David Rupp, owner and guide from IndiGo Birding Nature Tours, led the group.
Almost immediately we spotted a Cooper's Hawk. A Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Field Sparrows and a Ruby-crowned Kinglet were also spotted through binoculars. In all, 44 species of birds were spotted on that crisp Saturday morning.
