HENRY COUNTY, Ind. -- A man from Richmond was killed in a wrong-way crash Monday night on I-70 in Henry County.
Sheriff's deputies received a report of a car driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-70, just west of the New Castle exit, around 10 p.m.
They found the crash scene a short time later on eastbound I-70.
Investigators say a 2012 Hyundai driven by Phaedra Winters, 55, of Huber Heights, Ohio, was westbound in eastbound lanes of I-70 for an unknown reason. Her car hit a 2010 Honda head-on in the passing lane.
The driver of the Honda, Chase Thomas, 19, of Richmond, died at the scene.
Winters was taken to the hospital to be treated for multiple fractures.
Two other vehicles ran off the road while trying to avoid the crash. One of those drivers was treated at the scene while the other refused treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
