Federal agents raid homes, make multiple arrests during drug busts across Kokomo

KOKOMO, Ind. -- A major drug bust in Kokomo had federal agents raiding houses across the city on Tuesday. 

In a press conference Wednesday, US Attorney Josh Minkler said 15 people face federal charges in connection with a drug trafficking ring in Kokomo.

About 130 agents, troopers, deputies and officers served warrants at 13 locations in Kokomo and the Macon, Georgia area. As a result of the investigation, more than 17 pounds of methamphetamine, more two pounds of cocaine, two ounces of heroin, 122 grams of fentanyl, six ounces of marijuana, two money counters, 12 vehicles, $37,000 and 24 firearms were confiscated. 

Neighbors say they were woken by loud explosions and saw federal agents raiding nearby houses. 

"We woke up to like a loud bang," said Joann Wiley. "We came out to the porch and when we did they were raiding the neighbor's house."

Some neighbors say agents towed away cars, trucks and ATVs from different homes across the city.

According to the indictment, Reggie Balentine, 41, is the leader of the distribution conspiracy, operating from Macon, Georgia.
