KOKOMO — A person shot by a Kokomo police officer Monday night was flown to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment.
According to Kokomo Police Major Brian Seldon, the incident happened just after 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot behind a Goodwill store on Markland Avenue, just east of U.S. 931. That's about 50-miles north of Indianapolis.
Seldon said police were sent to the area to investigate reports of shots filed. The first officer to arrive found a "male subject" standing outside a truck. "The subject displayed a handgun," according to Seldon. "The officer fired shots injuring the suspect. The officer immediately called for medics to the scene to render aid."
After initial treatment at a nearby Kokomo hospital, the person was flown to Indianapolis.
