INDIANAPOLIS – South side drivers, better be prepared for more construction headaches.
Six bridges between I-65 and I-465 are undergoing repairs through the rest of 2017.
The $19.6 million project began by closing the eastbound I-465 loop ramp to northbound I-65 Sunday night. The planned detour will take drivers south on I-65 to Southport Road (Exit 103).
Eastbound I-65 drivers will not be able to take the loop ramp throughout the remainder of the project. More ramps will close later this month, according to INDOT officials.
Starting March 8 at 9 p.m. through March 11 at 6 a.m., two lanes of I-65 will close.
In late March or early April, the southbound I-65 ramp to eastbound I-465 will close for up to 150 days and later this summer, the northbound I-65 ramp to westbound I-465 will also close for up to 150 days.
Bridge construction is expected to finish before the end of 2017.
