DALEVILLE — An investigation is underway by Daleville Community Schools after a photo posted to social media appears to show students forming a swastika on a gymnasium floor, according to a letter from the superintendent.

The incident appears to have taken place on the floor of the high school's gymnasium, according to the statement.

"Daleville Community Schools will not tolerate acts of racism, bias, unlawful harassment, or discrimination of any kind and we are profoundly disappointed and shocked by the apparent actions of the students as depicted in the images we have seen posted on social media," superintendent Paul Garrison said in a statement posted to the district's website.

The district will determine what action to take and follow all policies and laws once the investigation is complete, Garrison said.

"This type of insensitive behavior is devastating to our school community and in no way does this incident represent the high expectations we have for our students, teachers, staff, and administrators," Garrison said.

"We are aware of the reported incident and we understand that the Daleville administration is taking the lead with the investigation of the reported incident," Jason Wille, sports information director for the Indiana High School Athletic Association, said in an email.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Garrison at 765-378-3329 or their school's superintendent.
