GREENWOOD — Greenwood's Northeast Skate Park is getting a totally new look, and it should be ready by the end of summer.

The current skate park is 25-years-old and showing it's age, according to Greenwood Parks Director Rob Taggart. "There is a strong skating community on the south side and we wanted to provide a facility that met the demand." Taggart said.

The new park will be made up of poured-in-place concrete, instead of ramps mounted onto asphalt. "The pour In place concrete allows for a safe, free flowing design. The proposed design will be welcoming for beginners and still challenge advanced skaters," said Taggart.

The Greenwood Parks and Recreation Board will review the plans this week.

The cost? About $250,000 according to Taggart, with some of it funded by a community grant.
