INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Task Force 1 has been activated to help during Tropical Storm Debby.

48 personnel with the task force have been deployed to South Carolina, from there they say they will go wherever they are needed. The team will leave on Sunday evening.

"We've taken all of our boats, we'll have all of our other equipment in case there's any flood inundation to buildings," Gerald George Task Force Leader said. "Obviously, we can do shoring, we can do rescue and collaborative structures and those kinds of things. But primarily focus on this will be for swift water or flood IND operations."

Hurricane Debby is expected to bring "catastrophic flooding" to those in Georgia and South Carolina, the National Hurricane Center warned.

The Task Force is asked to commit to 7-14 days but says their return depends on what needs to be done.
