INDIANAPOLIS — Nearly 300 families received food Saturday from the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #86.

The food was distributed by the lodge in partnership with the Midwest Food Bank, which is apart of their "Bridging the Gap" project. The project aims to bring attention to the food needs in the Central Indiana community.

The event helps to fill the gap in the community created by the federal government shutdown earlier this year, Indianapolis FOP said in a press release.
