INDIANAPOLIS — A head-on early-morning crash Monday on State Road 37 in Fishers claimed the life of 29-year-old man.

According to Fishers police, an Indianapolis man was headed southbound in the highway's northbound lanes when his Toyota Scion slammed head-on into a Dodger Charger driven by a Noblesville resident.

It happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. near 135th Street. The driver of the Charger did not suffer life-threatening injuries, but the man at the wheel of the Toyota was trapped inside his car and later died at a local hospital.

The crash is under investigation, although it may be difficult for police to determine why the Toyota was headed in the wrong direction on the four-lane highway.

The northbound lanes of State Road 37 were closed for approximately four-hours during the at-scene investigation.
