INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Museum of Art is using nature to try and attract more visitors this spring.
“For Spring Blooms: Celebration of Color” mixes art and nature and allows visitors to discover new trails, pop-up gardens, serenity, and relaxation.
The museum planted more than 150,000 bulbs on the 150 acres around the campus off 38th Street.
Deputy Director of Horticulture Jonathan Wright said they hope the colorful display will appeal to more professionals, families, and tourists.
“If you’re someone who hates being out in nature and seeing lots of colors and a beautiful garden, you can wander,” said Wright. “You don’t need to know what anything is. But if you’re a real keen gardener, we’ve tucked in some special things here and there.”
The museum also renovated part of an old greenhouse to create a beer garden along the path.
“It enhances the experience,” said Director of Hospitality Josh Ratliff. “You’re already out here in this beautiful place. You’ve got all these new plantings, and this is a way to reward you for coming out.”
The exhibit opens on March 31st and will run through May 31st.
