INDIANAPOLIS — A Catholic priest in Indianapolis has been suspended from ministry following a report of sexual abuse involving a minor.
Fr. David Marcotte was suspended by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Tuesday.
The alleged abuse took place in 2016 and Indianapolis police are investigating.
Fr. Marcotte was suspended after the archdiocese's victim assistance coordinator was notified
The priest was ordained in 2014 and has served in a number of assignments since then.
In 2014, Fr. Marcotte was associate pastor, SS Francis and Clare Parish in Greenwood.
He was a chaplain at the University of Indianapolis, then went to St. Malachy Parish in Brownsburg, followed by St. Martin of Tours Parish in Martinsville.
After Martinsville, Fr. Marcotte was a chaplain at Roncalli High School in Indianapolis and again at the University of Indianapolis.
He is prohibited from all public ministry while the investigation is ongoing.
The Most Reverend Charles Thompson, Archbishop of Indianapolis, sent a message to Roncalli High School families.
"I apologize to all victims, their families and loved ones who have suffered any form of abuse or misconduct by clergy," said Thompson. "I promise to do everything in my power to support you in your healing."
