LAWRENCE — A 16-year-old girl was shot and killed Thursday morning inside her home in Lawrence.
Police were called to the Maison Gardens Apartments at 42nd Street and Post Road at 7 a.m. Thursday for a report of a person shot.
When they arrived, police found 16-year-old Shiloh Britton suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The death has been classified as a homicide. This marks the sixth criminal homicide of 2018.
Britton's friends and family are cooperating with investigators, police say.
The incident remains under investigation by the Lawrence Police Department.
