INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana History Center is lighting up the holidays with over 80 themed Christmas trees.
The annual Festival of Trees takes over the Eli Lilly Hall and attracts hundreds of people each year.
“It’s just a wonderful way to get into the spirit of the season,” said Tom Borman of the Indiana Historical Society.
The exhibit also boasts an 80-foot tall tree. Just four years ago only 25 trees were on display.
“Last year we had 72, this year we have 80 plus our special centerpiece tree,” said Borman.
One of the trees was created by 2 Chicks and a Hammer, Karen and Mina from HGTV’s “Good Bones.”
“It’s an 8-foot a frame wooden ladder, it’s an antique,” said Karen. “We rubbed it with gold leaf, that's a wax base and then we just blinged it out.”
Visitors vote on their favorite tree and the event supports education programs at the IHS.
“Chat with people... you get in the Christmas spirit... see all the pretty trees and we're doing good right, were supporting the Indiana Historical Society and all the amazing work they do here in Indiana,” said Karen, who mentioned her and Mina are already brainstorming for next year’s tree.
Festival of Trees runs through Jan. 6.
