Bicyclist struck by IMPD officer on Indy's southwest side

INDIANAPOLIS -- A bicyclist was struck by an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer Saturday night on the southwest side of Indianapolis. 

A man riding a bike was struck by an officer around 7:45 p.m. in the 3000 block of West Morris Street by an IMPD officer who was not responding to an emergency or on a call. 

The man was taken to Eskenazi Hospital for a head injury by medics and is in stable condition.

At this time, police have not released the name or the victim or the officer involved.

Police said they do not believe alcohol is involved in the incident.
