INDIANAPOLIS — The Big Ten made its men's basketball tournament plans official Tuesday.
The conference will move next month's men's basketball tournament from Chicago to Indianapolis with games scheduled to be played March 10-14 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The Big Ten women's basketball tournament was already scheduled to take place March 9-13 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
"The decision to relocate the tournament to Indianapolis was based on multiple factors," a statement from the Big Ten said. "First and foremost was the health and safety of student-athletes, coaches, officials and conference constituents. Hosting both the men's and women's basketball tournaments in the same city allows for cohesive testing and medical protocols for both events, as well as centralized accommodations surrounding the competition venues."
The NCAA previously moved its entire men's basketball tournament to Indiana.
NCAA tournament games will be played in Indianapolis on two courts inside Lucas Oil Stadium, as well as at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Hinkle Fieldhouse and Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Mackey Arena in West Lafayette and Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington will host early round games.
The 2020 Big Ten men's basketball tournament ended early at Bankers Life Fieldhouse when it was canceled March 12 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
