INDIANAPOLIS — An IPS high school is undergoing major renovations to prepare for hundreds of additional students who will attend the school next year.
Crispus Attucks High School is transforming its media center to include multiple classrooms, rather than one large room. Those classrooms will be used for computer and other classes.
The renovation is taking place in preparation for the expected increase in students as the school adds two new academies.
IPS spokesperson Carrie Cline Black says the school will add a Health Sciences Academy and a Teaching, Learning and Leading Academy for the upcoming school year.
"When you talk about bringing in new academies here at Crispus Attucks ... that also means more students coming in the school and exciting new spaces," Black said. "And so that's part of what this is all about — accommodating the 400 to 500 additional students that will be coming into Attucks when the school year starts."
