INDIANAPOLIS -- Kent Wolfgram, a resident of downtown Indianapolis neighborhood Saint Clair Place, found a small white Chihuahua behind the Boner Center near his work. When he realized she was in poor health and without a collar, he took her home to help.
As of Friday, Chihuahua Rescue, Indiana has offered to cover her medical care to help in her adoption process. Due to the fact the rescue does not have enough space or foster families available, the couple who found her, Bethany Hoffman and her boyfriend Wolfgram, will continue to foster her until she is adopted.
Since she is not microchipped and they have had no luck in finding her owner, the couple has named her “Dolly.”
Wolfgram and Hoffman tried taking the dog back to where they found her and knocked on doors. They had no luck finding who she belonged to so they took her home once again.
The couple took her to the vet to get her looked at because she has a large lump on her stomach. After an examination, Hoffman said the little dog is not in the best of health.
“The tumor is old, but not worrisome,” Hoffman said. “She’s a sweetheart and loves people.”
The dog is not chipped or spayed, has bad teeth, slight cataracts, heart murmur, and allergies. Hoffman and Wolfgram are taking care of her and have cleaned her up the best they can.
She has now been bathed and treated for fleas as well.
“We must be confident in her future home, even if her life is shorter than we expect,” Hoffman said. “We want it to be the best life she has ever lived.”
Hoffman says the little dog is estimated to be about 10 years old, and now after some care, seems well rested and comfortable. They are actively looking for someone to take the dog into their care as Hoffman and Wolfgram already have a home filled with several rescues.
Any inquiries in adopting Dolly, can be sent to adoptions.chihuahuarescue@gmail.com. Chihuahua Rescue, Indiana makes sure all of their dogs are spayed/neutered, micro chipped, vaccinated, heartworm free, and have good teeth before they can be adopted.
Donations are needed to support chihuahuas in the area through Chihuahua Rescue, Indiana. You can donate here: https://www.paypal.me/chihuahuarescuein. You can also donate directly to Dolly through that link, and use her name in the donation.
