INDIANAPOLIS -- Security officials in Indianapolis have made changes to the plan for this year's Circle of Lights, when the Soldiers and Sailors Monument will be lit up for the Christmas season.
The annual free Circle of Lights event will be Nov. 24 from 6-8 p.m.
The performance stage will no longer be on the steps of the monument. Instead, it will be to the north, adjacent to Christ Church Cathedral.
"The movement of the stage to the under-utilized north spoke of the Circle will facilitate greater viewing opportunities for more spectators while ensuring the highest safety protocols,” said Downtown Indy president Sherry Seiwert.
The viewing area will instead be around the monument. There will also be three viewing plazas around the circle.
No vehicles will be allowed to drive onto the event's area. The following items will not be permitted to the event:
- chairs,
- pop-up tent,
- weapons/firearms,
- coolers,
- bicycles and
- animals (except for service-animals)
