INDIANAPOLIS-- A man flagged down officers early Saturday morning to say his passenger had been shot and killed in the heart of downtown Indianapolis.

Police say the man found them around 3 a.m. at the intersection of Maryland and Illinois Street and told them that his passenger had been shot. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.

Officers say the man was shot somewhere else before showing up in a busy part of downtown but they are not sure where that crime scene may have been.

The driver of the truck is cooperating with detectives. No arrests have been made at this time.

The Marion County Coroner will determine the cause and manner of death of the victim.

The incident remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
