INDIANAPOLIS -- A man was injured when his gun went off while he was shopping at the Whole Foods in Downtown Indianapolis Thursday night.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department say the 76-year-old man was carrying his firearm in a green nylon bag.
The gun fell to the ground as the man was checking out.
It went off and the bullet struck the man in his lower leg.
He was said to be stable as he was taken to the hospital.
Officers say the man did have a legal permit to carry the gun.
