INDIANAPOLIS -- A fight led to a stabbing early Monday morning near the Central Library in downtown Indianapolis.

Just after midnight Monday, two women got into a fight in the park just south of the library, a spokesperson with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.

A woman in her 40s was stabbed multiple times. She suffered a serious wound to her leg. The woman was taken to the hospital in serious, but stable, condition. She is expected to be OK.

Police say they have an idea on who the suspected stabber is.

This is the third incident in the past few months near the library.

In early April, a man was arrested after four people were stabbed near the steps of the library in the middle of the day.

A few weeks later, a man died after a fight near the library. IMPD said they stepped up patrols in the area after the attacks.
