INDIANAPOLIS -- Thanks to a large sinkhole, a major downtown Indianapolis intersection could be closed for a week.
A sinkhole opened up Wednesday near the intersection of Ohio and Pennsylvania streets.
The sinkhole was caused by the failure of a sewer line that was more than 100 years old. The sinkhole is 17 feet wide and more than 10 feet deep, fire officials say.

The intersection could be closed until July 13, Citizens Energy said Friday.
“Citizens appreciates the patience of downtown commuters as we work as safely and quickly as possible to repair the sewer and open this busy intersection,” said Director of Wastewater Collection Tim Blagsvedt for Citizens Energy Group.
