INDIANAPOLIS -- An estimated 10,000 "Dreamers" in Indiana are worried about their future as the March 5 deadline for Congress to act on DACA quickly approaches.

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program was started by the Obama administration to offer deportation relief and work authorization to young people brought the U.S. as children, known as "Dreamers."

19-year-old Maria Chavez is going to school and trying to prepare herself for a bright future.

"This is about the future of America and what will... Make America Great Again," said Chavez.

Oscar Gama works in accounting at Simon Property Group. He has a mortgage, a car, and he loves America.

"My whole life depends on this legislation. I've been here since I was 10, I'm 27 now. I don't know any country but this one," said Gama.

Some in the ministry are so committed to the Dreamer cause that they were arrested during protests last year in Washington.

"I don't regret it and I'm willing to do it as many times as necessary to get attention and action on this issue," said Pastor William Almovodar, Iglesia Christiana Casa del Alfero of Indianapolis.

Reverend Stephen Carlsen is calling on Congress to get the job done.

"Quit letting people play with them like pawns and tools in a political game. These are people that are friends and neighbors. They deserve to have a place here with a clean Dream Act," said Rev. Carlsen, Christ Church Cathedral.

Rev. Carlsen is urging all Hoosiers to call their senators and representatives to let them know how they feel about "Dreamers."

Many Democrats say they won't back a bill preventing a weekend government shutdown until both sides reach an agreement on protecting "Dreamers" from deportation.
