Trash pickup on east side of Indianapolis repeatedly missed

INDIANAPOLIS — After making several complaints to the city, some neighbors on the east side are asking why they're trash isn't being picked up.

People who live along 13th Street, near Tuxedo, say every couple weeks the garbage truck seems to miss their block.

It's frustrating as trash continues to pile up and the city doesn't seem to remedy the problem.

One resident, Jeff Craig, has filed several complaints with the mayor's action center. Craig said he let them know each time the garbage truck missed them — but time and time again, it keeps happening.

"This is a service that our property tax pays for," said Craig. "And the city expects our property taxes to be paid. Why can't I have my services that my property tax pays for?"

RTV6 was able to reach Department of Public Works, who says there was a miscommunication that this particular address on 13th Street doesn't have alley pick-up, but instead on the actual street. DPW said there's also a new driver servicing this route.

But they've told us the problem should not happen again.
