INDIANAPOLIS — The first-ever human breast milk drive will be coming to Indianapolis in January and February.
The Milk Bank and Community Hospital South are co-hosting the breast bilk donation drive Jan. 24 and Feb. 4.
The Milk Donor drives are asking for women who are currently, or have recently finished, lactating to donate their stored, surplus milk. The milk will go to ill and fragile infants across the region.
Ideal women are non-smokers, in good health and take limited to no medications or herbal supplements.
The donors will be asked to fill out a medical history form and to complete a quick blood draw.
The Milk Bank was founded in Indiana in 2005 as a way to improve health outcomes for premature and ill infants and decrease health care expenditures.
The drive will happen Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 3 to 7p.m. at The Milk Bank: 5060 East 62 Street, Suite 128, Indianapolis, IN 46220.
The drive will happen Monday, Feb. 4 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Community Hospital South: 1402 East County Line Road, Indianapolis, IN 46227.
