INDIANAPOLIS — Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana has issued an urgent call for volunteers as the year starts to close.

Gleaners requires 60 volunteers per day on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to help feed hungry Hoosiers.

There are more than 200 volunteer shifts still unfilled for December for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week in December.

While volunteering, PPE and social distancing measures will be in place.

“When we’ve asked for help, the community has responded throughout the pandemic,” said Gleaners Senior Director of Strategic Communications Sarah Estell. “We’re hoping they will continue to hear us and decide that giving a few hours of time during the coming weeks and months is a great way to get out of the house and safely give back during this season.”
