INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis auto mechanic called RTV6 for help on Wednesday after finding out Black Forest Motors - where he works - is suddenly closing its doors. Several workers have complained that they haven't been getting their paychecks from the auto repair shop, as well.
"I needed to make preparations to get my belongings out of there," a Black Forest Motors employee, John Massey, said.
"We reported for work yesterday morning and he said by Friday at 6 o'clock the shop would be closed," Massey said.
Massey says the owner owes him multiple paychecks.
"... just saying hang in there hang in there," Massey said about the owner. "I can't tell these bills to hang in there."
As many as five of Massey's co-workers, according to Massey's wife, are also behind on getting paid.
RTV6 called Massey's supervisor, asking for an explanation.
The supervisor told RTV6 the business is not closing, but instead moving and restructuring. He also said he's going to get the workers their paychecks in a timely manner.
It is illegal for your boss not to pay you for your work. If it happens to you, you can fill out a wage claim form with the Indiana Department of Labor. Be sure to include the gross amount of your claim, how long you've worked there and the dates and hours you've worked.
