Indy neighborhood concerned over possible delivery notice scam

Posted

PERRY TOWNSHIP, Ind. -- Residents living in Perry Township are on alert after notes about missed package deliveries started appearing on their front doors.

Kristen Schwark said she was inside her home when she saw a mysterious person pin what looked like a sticky note on her front door.

"My initial thought was this is a scam,  this is someone trying to scam someone going door to door to see if they can get someone to bite," said Schwark.

The note claims she missed a package delivery, but Schwark says the woman never knocked on her door or rang the doorbell.

Then she noticed the little yellow sticky notes on her neighbor's doors too.

When one of the neighbors called the number on the sticky note they said they offered them water filter testing and a free gift card. Although, when RTV6's Stephanie Wade tried to contact the number she only got a busy signal.

Even so, the Indiana Attorney General's Office says people should be wary about any kind of notice that pops up on their door or door-to-door type sale.

They say the door-to-door salesman scam is one of the top consumer complaints they receive.

They suggest researching any business you plan to purchase from and confirm their physical address and phone number in case you need to contact them.
