LAWRENCE, Ind. -- A Lawrence Township mother says the school district has made changes on her daughter's school bus less than a week after she reached out to RTV6 for help with an overcrowding issue.
Autumn Summers told RTV6 last week that her 7th-grade daughter was forced to squat next to an emergency exit on her school bus on several occasions because it was so overcrowded that there weren’t enough seats for all of the students.

Summers said when she first contacted the school district, they didn’t seem to share her concerns for her daughter’s safety.
"I was thinking that my first call would have did the trick and that was definitely not the case," said Summers.
After RTV6 got involved and started asking why the bus overcrowding was not being addressed, the district's Transportation Director reached out to Summers and told her they were working on a resolution.
Summers said she wishes her first call to the district had gotten these results, but she was glad RTV6 could step in to help.
"Prior to that, I contacted several different people and they had me going in circles," said Summers. "So once the process started, quite quickly, they readjusted the busing and had everything fixed."
Summers said as of Monday, the district had reworked some of their bus routes to address the issue of student overcrowding. She says 14 students were moved off of one of the buses and onto another, to accommodate the seating issues.
