INDIANAPOLIS -- A man wanted on a warrant for child molestation was hit by a car on I-65 southbound while he was running from state troopers Saturday night.
A trooper said he could smell marijuana as he pulled up to help a disabled vehicle on I-65 northbound.
The female driver presented her ID to the trooper, but state police say Timothy Williams Jr. gave them a fake ID.
When asked to step out of the car, Williams shoved the trooper and took off running.
Williams jumped the median and was struck by a southbound car. He remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
State police say Williams, 26, of New Castle, has a warrant for his arrest for child molestation.
The female driver was detained and questioned by police.
The incident remains under investigation by Indiana State Police.
