INDIANAPOLIS - New numbers from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development show that since the main part of the pandemic began in mid-march, more than 580,000 Hoosiers have applied for unemployment benefits.

That's more than 17% of Indiana's total labor force. The number of unemployment claims is slowly coming down.

Last week, more than 57,000 people applied for benefits in the state. That's a drop of about 15,000 from the previous week.
