INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis City-County Councilman Jeff Miller has still not resigned his position despite saying he would following child molestation charges.
Jeffrey Miller, 50, is accused of inappropriately touching young girls with massagers at his home. The city-county councilman for District 16 was charged last Friday with three felony counts of child molesting. District 16 serves the near southeast, south and southwest sides of Indianapolis.
Senator Jim Merritt released a statement on Tuesday reiterating the fact that Miller told him that he intended to step down:
"Jeff Miller informed me on Friday that he intended to resign from his position on the Indianapolis City County Council and I expect him to do the right thing and resign immediately. Jeff Miller has been investigated and charged with deplorable acts that should immediately disqualify anyone from public office."
The Republican caucus also called for Miller to immediately resign, "in the best interest of the citizens of District 16, the institution of the City-County Council, and all the people of Indianapolis.
The statement released by the caucus was signed by all ten Republican members of the council.
Jeff Miller has still not responded to the calls for his resignation. His attorney, Jennifer Lukemeyer, said Tuesday that they have no comment.

Investigators began looking into Miller after a 10-year-old girl came forward claiming he had massaged her and made her uncomfortable one more than one occasion.
The probable cause affidavit for the case details multiple conversations investigators had with children who frequented Miller’s home.
When asked by investigators about specifics involving the investigation Miller said he didn’t believe he had done anything wrong, but would not say the girls were lying.
Miller was elected to represent District 16 in November 2011 and re-elected in 2015.
